Plumbing pro Jake Albright likes reliability, ruggedness and convenience in his drain cleaning tools.

That’s why the ultra-compact, hand-held Gen-Eye Micro-Scope2 video inspection system remains a key part of his equipment arsenal.

“It’s great for inspecting all sorts of small drains — including toilets,” he says. “It really saves time and money.”

The award-winning inspection tool from General Pipe Cleaners offers outstanding versatility when inspecting 1 1/2- to 3-inch drainlines, toilet traps, and hard-to-reach places like duct work, furnaces and crawl spaces with the 3-foot probe rod.

“And it quickly gets to the root of some problems — literally,” Albright adds.

Compact inspection accuracy

A Pittsburgh native, Albright started the successful Steel City Plumbing in 1982 before relocating to Florida and founding Naples Plumbing in January 2014. Now his burgeoning business serves a mix of commercial and residential customers throughout Collier County.

One of them recently experienced a clogged toilet in their house.

“I snaked out the toilet, and everything worked fine,” Albright recalls. “But a week later it backed up again.”

That’s when he grabbed his Gen-Eye Micro-Scope.

Albright’s Micro-Scope includes hand-held command module, 3-foot probe rod and carrying case. It also sports an open reel with 100 feet of micro pushrod and color camera. The whole package weighs just 24 pounds.

“I simply fed the camera down the bathroom sink drain, which runs into the main drain, and I didn’t even have to pull the toilet.”

The Micro-Scope2 quickly discovered that roots had penetrated the line and they were successfully eliminated.

“Without having to pull the toilet, the initial inspection was also a lot less expensive for the customer,” Albright says.

Convenient and powerful

General’s trim Micro-Scope2 package literally puts inspection convenience in the hands of plumbing and drain cleaning pros.

It sports a powerful Command Module with a bigger monitor and USB port to record video inspections on flash drives. It features a bright 7-inch LCD color monitor, USB drive to record video or photos on a flash drive, one-touch recording, and date and time stamp. It also includes 4X digital zoom, rotatable picture, voice-over recording, and flash drive capacity and battery strength indicators. The rechargeable battery powers the unit for up to four hours.

“Voice-over recording and videos really help explain what you’re doing for customers,” Albright says.

The monitor attaches to the reel with an adjustable mount for optimal viewing angles. The reel holds 100 feet of micro pushrod with color camera. The 3-foot probe rod lets you check hard-to-inspect locations. And three handy attachments help adjust viewing angles or retrieve objects.

“We take it everywhere,” Albright says.

Albright stands behind his work — and expects the same from the tools he uses.

His customers in Florida appreciate that. And that’s why he’s built his drain cleaning arsenal around General products, including rugged, reliable Gen-Eye, water jet and cable equipment.

“General stands by me, and I stand by General. I won’t even consider another company.”
