The space-saving Sanicondens Best condensate water pump from SFA Saniflo features a built-in acid neutralizer that decreases water acidity to meet local and state codes before discharging to the drain. Condensate has the potential to cause property damage or create health hazards that can affect indoor air quality. Often condensate cannot drain through gravity and a pump is required.

With four inlets, the pump can accommodate multiple condensing mechanical systems, both residential and commercial, including boilers, water heaters, air conditioning, refrigeration and other appliances. The condensate triggers a float that activates the pump.

“We try to design products that solve everyday problems while keeping the environment in mind,” says Jose Pachas, U.S. technical manager, SFA Saniflo. “Our Sanicondens Best was designed for this purpose, to keep harsh chemicals away from the sewer.”

The neutralizer defuses condensate from appliances with inputs up to 100,000 Btu/hour, preventing drains and sewer systems from corroding. Made of polypropylene, the 8-pound pump can be wall-mounted using the tabs on the tank or installed on a level floor surface.

“I think the main benefit is you have one system that neutralizes and pumps at the same time,” he says. “It’s easy to install and there’s basically no maintenance. The only maintenance would be to change the neutralizing agent when needed.”

The 10-inch-high by 11 7/8-inch-wide by 7 1/2-inch-deep pump, certified by CSA International for use in the United States and Canada, comes with neutralizing granules and 20 feet of 3/8-inch vinyl hose that connects to the discharge line. The 1/30 hp pump has a 115- to 120-volt induction motor and 2-quart tank. A built-in check valve keeps water from flowing back into the reservoir and reactivating the pump. Operating cycles range from 2 to 10 seconds depending on the discharge pipe run.

The unit can discharge condensate 15 feet vertically and/or 150 feet horizontally (with gravity fall) from a soil stack. A ready-to-wire connection enables an external overflow switch to shut down an appliance or alert the homeowner if the water level rises too high. 800/571-8191; www.saniflo.com.
