Every plumber likely has several pipe wrenches in his toolbox. But while Milwaukee Tool hasn’t "reinvented the wheel,” so to speak, with the new 10L pipe wrench, the company has improved the design of the tried-and-true tool. As the first 10-inch pipe wrench with an extended-length handle, this tool is designed to completely eliminate the need to modify a smaller pipe wrench for additional leverage when working at awkward angles or in tight spots.

“Since the 10-inch pipe wrench was brought to market decades ago, it has experienced very little change in overall form and function,” says Brian Doyle, senior product manager for Milwaukee Tool. “Users have often had to modify this tool with a piece of conduit or pipe to achieve the additional reach and leverage needed in low clearances. We are the first to challenge the historical length of this tool. Through a 17-inch POWERLENGTH handle, this pipe wrench will give users maximum leverage and the best access in tight spots. This is something they’ve needed for decades.”

Due to its OVERBITE JAW with additional teeth, the 10L pipe wrench delivers a large grip surface, keeping the material centered in the jaws even in challenging pipe and fitting configurations. The tool’s slim jaw profile, paired with its extended length, allows for access in the tightest spaces. It also features a dual coil spring design for longer tool life and a handle that offers a comfortable fit in the hand for extended use.

“While it was designed for the needs of sprinkler fitters (because they were the ones we saw modifying their 10-inch pipe wrenches the most), we’ve seen a wide range of users turning to this new tool,” Doyle says. “We have even heard of users call the 10L pipe wrench with POWERLENGTH handle their go-to tool for water heater installs!”

According to Doyle, the 10L pipe wrench has already found a home in many plumbers’ toolboxes.

“Feedback has been extremely positive. Many users have simply asked, ‘Is this for real?’ They’re in utter disbelief that the 10-inch pipe wrench could be improved in such a way,” he says. “ Finally there’s a pipe wrench that gets into tight spaces — users aren’t having to spend extra time modifying what they have. This is a simple solution that shows immediate results.” 800-729-3878; www.milwaukeetool.com.
