Plumbing isn’t just a modern convenience — ancient civilizations were surprisingly advanced when it came to water management.
The Romans are famous for their aqueducts, but they also had lead pipes, underground sewers, and even public toilets. The Mayans took it a step further with pressurized water systems, using gravity and reservoirs to move water where it was needed. And even before that, the Indus Valley Civilization had one of the earliest known sewer systems, complete with covered drains and home bathrooms.
While today’s plumbing is lightyears ahead, it’s wild to think that thousands of years ago, people were already figuring out how to keep water flowing and waste moving — just like plumbers do now.
