Freezeless outdoor shower a fit for cooler climates

Outdoor showers used to have a reputation for being an expensive, excessive luxury. But as more homeowners embrace the “staycation” philosophy by making their homes as comfortable as possible and as the technology to install an outdoor shower improves, more are taking the leap. In fact, outdoor showers have proven to be great investments, with the potential to increase the value of a home. According to a 2018 report from realtor.com, homes with outdoor showers tend to list for nearly double the asking price of other homes, so adding one can also make good fiscal sense.

Capitalizing on the outdoor shower trend, PRIER Products recently launched a freezeless version of an outdoor shower that’s designed specifically for Northern climates. According to PRIER, the shower is a “perfect addition to lake houses, beach houses, public and backyard pools, campgrounds, athletic facilities, farms and anywhere you want a shower outside.”

“PRIER invented the first self-closing freezeless faucets in 1946,” says Scott Brady, PRIER research and development manager. “We incorporated that technology to launch the world’s first freezeless shower.”

The C-108SH1 freezeless shower kit is fully compatible with the C-108 hot and cold freezeless hydrant from PRIER. The shower kit is self-draining and comes with everything needed for installation, including a standard MPT showerhead and mounting hardware. The stainless steel riser is designed to maintain an attractive finish for many years. It has an interchangeable spout for hose thread use. It enables the owner to convert his or her outdoor hot and cold faucet into a shower in minutes. The riser is 38 inches between the connection and bottom of the showerhead.

“We’re excited to launch this new product,” says Nick Manning, PRIER president. “I had a conversation with a customer in Belknap County, New Hampshire, last fall who wished he could shower after a swim in Lake Winnipesaukee. He was concerned about his exterior shower freezing during the cool winter months. We delivered on our promise and believe this will be a highly sought-after product, especially for our customers in the Midwest, along the coastlines and in areas subject to freezing temperatures.” 800-362-9055; www.prier.com.
