Genesis HealthCare System, in Zanesville, Ohio, currently operates at two Zanesville sites, Genesis-Bethesda and Genesis-Good Samaritan. Bethesda Hospital, originally known as Zanesville City Hospital, was started in 1891 as a 12-bed hospital. Today, Genesis is the largest health care provider in its six-county region of southeastern Ohio.
