Earlier this year, we highlighted Barney Smith, a retired plumber in Texas who has spent a half-century amassing an expansive collection of decorated toilet seats.
At age 97, Smith was looking to finally move on from his unique toilet seat art museum, with hopes that the collection could remain intact somewhere with the help of a buyer. Mission accomplished. According to a recent update on the museum’s Facebook page, Jason Boso and his wife, Amanda, are in the process of purchasing the museum. They are the owners of Truck Yard, a self-described “adult playground” featuring food trucks, live music, and a beer garden with locations in Dallas and Houston.
Smith’s 1,350 toilet seat art pieces are currently displayed in a two-room corrugated metal garage on his Alamo Heights, Texas, property near San Antonio. The collection will remain where it is until its new home is completed, which will be located in The Colony, Texas, a suburb of Dallas.
