Channellock is sponsoring its second annual Trade School Trade-Up, a competition offering cash prizes, new tools and a classroom makeover for the winners.
Students in plumbing, HVAC, welding, automotive and electrical are eligible to participate by creating a short video about how their team uses its technical skills to improve their school or community.
“We believe in the importance of skilled labor in America,” says Jon DeArment, president and chief operations officer for Channellock. “We hope this competition provides students an opportunity to showcase the value of an education in skilled trades. The skills gap is real, and we need passionate, hardworking people of our younger generations to fill that gap.”
Awards will be given for first, second and third place. Here’s how it works:
- Organize a team of classmates and develop a short video following the prompt — how your team uses its technical skills to improve your school or community. Learn more at http://www.channellock.com/tradeup.
- Submit your video by the May 15 deadline.
- The owners of Channellock will select the top three submissions.
- Voting will be held via social media from May 22-24.
- On May 27, the awards will be announced.
First place will receive a $5,000 cash prize, Channellock tools for team members and classroom, and a classroom makeover with Channellock Blue wall paint and fatheads.
Second place will receive a $2,500 cash prize and Channellock tools for team members and classroom.
Third place will receive a $1,000 cash prize and Channellock tools for team members and classroom.
