The July issue of Plumber is out, featuring Platinum Plumbing of Pocatello, Idaho. The company's willingness to embrace new opportunities has been a key factor in propelling growth. In 2012 when a customer asked if there was a way to replace a leaking water line without disrupting his well-manicured front yard, co-owner JD Christensen hired a contractor he saw using a directional drill to install a fiber-optic line. Afterward Christensen decided to invest in his own drilling unit. There were some struggles with the new service offering in the beginning, but Platinum Plumbing persevered. Today, directional drilling generates the majority of revenue, with excavation, pipe bursting, and plumbing services also contributing.
