When PipeTech Plumbing LLC confronts clogs in inside lines, they grab their “dynamic duo.”

That’s what owner Nick Pechette calls his arsenal of two hand-held drain cleaners from General Pipe Cleaners: the rugged, reliable Super-Vee electric drain cleaner and innovative, “air-powered” Kinetic Water Ram.

“Those General tools are money in the bank,” the Michigan master plumber says. “They literally keep our lights on and our shop moving.”

Trustworthy tools, solid service

Originally purchased by Pechette's dad, both compact, portable products have braved nearly 40 years of demanding use in the Detroit area. And now that Pechette carries the company flag, they continue giving solid service.

“I’ve been beating General tools to death for decades,” he says. “And they keep working.”

With Pechette’s late father and grandfather as plumbing pros, a brother apprenticing, and a son poised to enter training, his family boasts “about a century” of cumulative expert service to local customers.

“Drain cleaning and repair accounts for close to 50% of PipeTech work,” Pechette notes. “So our equipment must work the first time, every time, and safely handle more fragile pipes and traps of older local systems.

“That’s why I always keep both tools on the truck. I can’t believe how profitable our Kinetic Water Ram and Super-Vee combo can be.”

Fast and eco-friendly

Just pump Kinetic Water Ram up, insert into a clogged drain with standing water and snap the trigger. Unlike some competitive devices, Kinetic Water Ram requires no electrical power or CO2 gas. Lightweight and economical, the futuristic tool generates a shock wave that instantly pulverizes stoppages in 1 1/4- to 4-inch lines, yet won’t harm pipes.

The shock wave bypasses vents and bends to batter blockages. And the tool’s built-in pump and pressure gauge lets operators choose the right amount of force for each job.

“It’s nearly 40 years old, but we use Kinetic Water Ram almost daily for restaurant, daycare and residential steam heating work,” Pechette says. “It’s perfect for ice cream parlor lines.”

Environmentally friendly, compact, portable Kinetic Water Ram is cleaner than snakes and safer than chemicals.

General’s tool, he continues, remains especially effective at safely clearing clogs caused by fats and shavings in floor sinks.

And Pechette accepts no substitutes.

“It’s often imitated, but never duplicated. Our Kinetic Water Ram has been beat up, used and abused. But it’s worth its weight in gold.”

He says “it’s great” for a range of plumbing, drain cleaning, maintenance, restoration and rental applications.

General’s sleek, plated tool comes in a sturdy carrying case with molded compartments for the tool and accessories. A Schraeder valve for use with an external air compressor when clearing difficult blockages is also provided.

An optional toilet attachment screws onto the front of Kinetic Water Ram, turning it into a powerful plunger. The specially designed accessory precisely positions in bowls for a tight seal, hitting blockages with maximum impact and no splashback.

Pechette calls Kinetic Water Ram “the best tool in the box next to my Super-Vee.”

Rugged and reliable

That’s because not every problem involves grease clogs and hair-packed, slow draining tubs. So when solid, stubborn stoppages call for cable power, Pechette grabs his Super-Vee cable drain cleaner.

Easy-to-use, hand-held Super-Vee quickly unclogs sink, shower, toilet and laundry lines up to 3-inch in diameter. It’s so durable and dependable that many last for decades without replacement.

Powered by a variable speed motor, today’s Super-Vee carries up to 50 feet of 1/4- or 5/16-inch, or 35 feet of 3/8-inch Flexicore cable.

General’s quick, convenient slide-action chuck engages and releases Flexicore cable by simply sliding the Super-Vee’s Grip-Shield forward or back, even while the cable rotates. The chuck also automatically adjusts to 1/4-inch through 3/8-inch diameter cables. And General’s quick-change cartridges let users easily switch or clean cables without delay or mess.

A robust range of cables and cutters is available, too. “We love it,” Pechette says. “And our Handy-Stand from General makes Super-Vee even more versatile.”

Even running well-balanced, lightweight tools like Super-Vee in cramped spaces can quickly prove fatiguing.

But tough, ergonomically balanced Handy-Stand turns General’s popular hand-held machine into a practical countertop or floor machine — enhancing Super-Vee’s versatility, safety and stability.

“It’s great in tight, awkward spots, like under sinks and in cabinets. It’s awesome.”

Superb versatility

Lightweight Handy-Stand can be positioned either horizontally or vertically for optimal operator convenience. And the lift handle neatly doubles as a spare cable cartridge holder.

It’s customer-friendly, too. “I can set it in a fiberglass tub, on vinyl tile, and inside vanities without causing damage, and still keep two hands on the cable,” he adds.

Additional features include:

  • Quick-release clamp for securing the drain cleaner into position
  • Four-point base for optimal stability and safety
  • Power cord holder for fewer work obstructions
  • Built-in cutter caddy for extra convenience

Industry-leading cable and lubricant

Tightly wound over a wire rope core, then heat-treated, General’s legendary Flexicore design gives cables outstanding strength without sacrificing flexibility.

And Flexicore is so tough, it carries a one-year warranty against breakage. “If you take care of it properly, you’ll get years of use from Flexicore,” Pechette says. “Just rinse, add General’s Snake Oil Classic lubricant, and it’s ready to go again.”

Snake-Oil Classic is better than common lubricants. General’s special rust inhibitor cuts through moisture and replaces it with a rust-resistant coating.

Sewer cables and machines — including drums, bearings and power cable feeds — enjoy significantly extended life. And General’s deodorant gives everything a fresh, clean smell.

It’s easy to use, too. Just pour some Snake-Oil Classic into a cable cartridge or drum and rotate the container, letting the oil contact as much cable as possible. Then drain off excess Snake-Oil Classic and allow the cable to air-dry.

Past professionalism signals future success

“‘Treat your customers with honesty and integrity,’ my dad always said, and you’ll never be without work a day in your life,” Pechette says. “Trusty General tools work first time, every time, and reliably handle our customers’ needs.”

And that dependability, he adds, helps buttress PipeTech Plumbing’s outstanding professional reputation.
