IAPMO publishes Water Demand Calculator, announces promotion for Dewi
IAPMO published IAPMO/ANSI/CAN Z1403-2026, Water Demand Calculator, a new American National Standard and National Standard of Canada that provides a modern, statistically based method for estimating peak water demand in single-family and multifamily residential buildings. The Water Demand Calculator was developed in response to the limitations of traditional water supply sizing methods based on assumptions dating back to the 1940s. By utilizing contemporary fixture flow rates, water-efficient appliance considerations and real-world usage patterns, the standard enables engineers, designers, contractors and authorities having jurisdiction to more accurately determine peak water demand and appropriately sized water service lines, building supplies, mains, risers and branches.

IAPMO also announced that Shirley Dewi has been promoted to executive vice president of IAPMO R&T, where she will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the organization’s certification and compliance operations, including product certification, the systems certification body and continuous compliance. Dewi joined IAPMO R&T in 2007 after working as a quality manager in the plastic injection molding and electronics industries and as a contract auditor for IAPMO R&T. She previously served as an operations analyst for Lockheed Martin IMS and holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Cal Poly Pomona.

Since joining IAPMO R&T, Dewi has held increasingly senior leadership positions and played a significant role in expanding the organization’s certification services.
