Contractor employs preassembled sewage grinder pump

Problem: During a residential installation in Roxbury, New Jersey, Dominick Bianco, president of BDP Plumbing & Heating, faced a significant challenge replacing a failing sewage ejector system. The existing steel pit was deteriorating, and a collapsed line had compromised the unit’s ability to pump wastewater effectively. The situation had deteriorated to the point where Bianco considered jackhammering through the floors to replace underground lines, install a new pit and reset a traditional ejector pump. All of those solutions would be a very time-consuming, disruptive and costly option.

Solution: After consulting a manufacturer representative, Bianco learned about the SFA Saniflo Sanipit 24 GR CB, fully preassembled sewage grinder pump system with a heavy-duty basin and integrated control panel/alarm. Designed for new installations, the unit includes a 1 hp grinder motor, triple-redundant air pressure switches and a dry cavity design that separates critical components from sewage, ensuring a clean, service-friendly environment.

Result: Installation of the Sanipit 24 GR CB took no longer than two hours and proved remarkably straightforward. The streamlined process not only saved significant labor time, but also highlighted the product’s potential to redefine standard sewage ejector installations. “I like that you don’t have to line up various connections that make installations more complicated,” says Bianco. “You can just drop the unit in, which makes everything work out much easier. I went back to check everything after installation, and it was all good.” 800-571-8191; www.saniflo.com
