HammerHead HydroGuide winch includes time-saving downrigger

Now more than ever, time is money. That’s why the HydroGuide HG1200 winch from HammerHead Trenchless Equipment makes sense for companies that handle pipe bursting, sliplining and slitting applications. The unit is optimally designed to be efficient and easy to use, and includes a self-deploying hydraulic downrigger, improved performance and additional safety features.

“The HG1200 is probably our most versatile winch unit,” says Josh Hood, HammerHead product line manager. “It’s going to be a great fit for anyone performing industrial pipe rehab or commercial work.”

The HG1200 makes setup easy with its hydraulic downrigger. With the touch of a button, the technician is able to automatically deploy the boom downhole and can fine-tune the depth up to 18 feet without having to jack up the machine. With the hydraulic boom, setup and teardown take just minutes, which saves valuable time on a job site.

“The deployable boom is great because it keeps the technician from having to go down the manhole, saving time,” says Hood. “We looked at how much time is typically wasted on the job site, and added features to eliminate that.”

The unit’s precision controls allow users to adjust the boom to any depth, and also have total control of the line speed and pressure. Pull force can be set anywhere between 0.5 to 12 tons, and the line speed can be set anywhere between 0 to 111 feet per minute.

“Each job is different, so we created a machine that can be adjusted to fit each individual job,” says Hood. “We worked to create a winch with the necessary power and agility for a wide range of situations to ensure customer success.”

The unit is powered by the Kubota D1105, a vertical, water-cooled, four-cycle diesel engine that complies with Tier 4 emission regulations. Optional tracks allow it to reach difficult areas on the job site that the standard, wheel-mounted unit cannot, such as backyards and crowded urban areas. The unit is the predecessor to the HG12 winch, Hammerhead’s stalwart on the winch market for 14 years.

“The HG12 is still popular, but the needs have changed, so we needed something that offered more versatility,” says Hood. “The key to a successful job is getting in, getting the job done quickly and efficiently, and getting out. We believe this winch will help them do that.” 800/331-6653; www.hammerheadtrenchless.com.
