A difficult leak was detected in Wing, Leicestershire, in the United Kingdom. The sewer flow in the area had risen, and a resultant step test indicated a leak was likely in an area just downstream of Winger Reservoir on a 6-inch AC pipe with an operating pressure of 17.4 psi.

The problem was further complicated by pump noise at the reservoir that interfered with the leak noise. Investigations with an alternative correlator resulted in two dry holes and an unsuccessful leak detection project.

The LeakFinderST correlator from Echologics was then brought in, and the area of the suspected leak was bracketed by extending the correlation to a distance of 326 yards.

The LeakFinderST pinpointed the location, which enabled successful excavation and repair. The resulting drop on the area flow graph established that the leak had a volumetric flow of 22 gpm. 866/324-6564; www.echologics.com.
