Get The Iron Out Small
See the video from June’s Coffee with Caleffi webinar, “Get the Iron Out! Boiler Room Updates,” led by Jody Samuell, manager of engineering education. This month’s training webinar covers pressure reducing valves (PRVs) in plumbing systems.

Julius Ballanco, P.E., president of JB Engineering and Code Consulting, leads an online webinar, “Applying Pressure Reducing Valves in Plumbing Systems,” from noon to 1 p.m. CT, Thursday, July 28.

He will discuss boiler replacement, particularly oil heat, and swapping like-for-like or migrating to a condensing boiler.

There is no cost for the complimentary education series, Coffee with Caleffi, but registration is required.

Topics include:

  • What is a PRV (pressure reducing valve)?
  • Are there different types, sizes, configurations?
  • How they work.
  • Do they have a Cv rating like a control valve or mixing valve?
  • Selecting the right one for your project.
  • What kinds of approvals or certifications are applicable to PRVs?
  • Does every building and every home need one?
  • Is more than one needed in a given building?
  • Does a PRV need to withstand high water temperatures?
  • What can cause a PRV to make objectionable noise?
  • What other devices are commonly installed on the same pipe leg?
  • Common issues related to installation and maintenance.
  • Are changes in technology or regulations that would affect PRV designs or product requirements?
