The Neorest 750H intelligent toilet from Toto, winner of the iF International Award for design excellence, features intuitive sensor operation with auto-open/close and auto-flush; integrated personal cleansing system with warm, aerated water, warm air dryer and heated seat; in-bowl catalytic deodorizer; and energy- and water-saving features.

This advanced cleansing system starts with Toto’s eWater+ technology. Using the incoming water supply, a pre-mist wets the bowl’s surface, preventing waste’s adherence 80 percent better than a dry bowl. After each flush, Toto’s eWater+ mists the bowl with electrolyzed water, which has a slightly acidic pH value to keep the bowl fresh and clean.

The bowl is glazed with Toto’s Hydrotect titanium dioxide coating and zirconium, giving it an iridescent, mother-of-pearl sensibility. Extremely hydrophilic, Hydrotect makes it difficult for organic substances to adhere to the bowl’s surface – enabling waste, lime scale and mold to wash away. When combined with sunlight, Hydrotect triggers a photocatalytic process in which organic substances are broken down. To achieve this, Toto integrated a UV light in the seat lid that is activated when the lid is closed. Once the UV light hits the Hydrotect’s titanium dioxide coating on the toilet’s bowl, photocatalysis occurs, accelerating the decomposition of all organic substances in the bowl.

Another unique feature is Toto’s ultra high-efficiency Tornado dual-flush technology that consumes 1 gallon of water per flush (gpf) for the full flush and 0.8 gpf for the light flush. The flushing system simultaneously releases two water jets inside the bowl, creating a whirlpool effect that removes waste and cleans the bowl’s surface and rim.

The dual-flush system employs a reserve water tank and pumping system inside the toilet that combines with the home’s direct water supply to realize its 1 gpf/0.8 gpf flushing capability. To achieve this, Toto engineers designed a system in which the siphon jet is fed from water that is pumped into the bottom of the bowl from the reserve tank, while the rim and bowl wash is supplied directly by the home’s water supply.

This flushing system is unaffected by a building’s water pressure – enabling toilets installed in high-rise, multi-family buildings and the upper floors of single-family residences to achieve the same powerful performance as those in low-rise buildings. 888/295-8134; www.totousa.com.

Noritz residential combination boilers

The CB Series of combination boilers (Combi) from Noritz America Corp. feature high-efficiency condensing technology to deliver hot water for both plumbing and hydronic applications, including colder climates.

The CB Combi delivers up to 9.2 gpm of hot water and performs at 95 percent AFUE (annual fuel utilization efficiency), converting 95 percent of the Btu/h input into usable heat. The fuel-saving performance meets Energy Star Most Efficient standards, the EPA’s highest efficiency rating. A flow control valve ensures a consistent temperature for hot water demand, regardless of incoming water temperature.

On the heating side, the Combi accommodates multiple applications including radiators, baseboards, low- and high-mass radiant heating and air handlers. Available in two models, the CB180DV has a maximum gas input Btu/h of 180,000 for hot water and 100,000 Btu/h for space heating. The CB199DV has a maximum gas input Btu/h of 199,000 for hot water and 120,000 Btu/h for space heating.

Other features include a 90-pound wall-mounted package, and an outdoor temperature reset sensor that measures outdoor temperatures, enabling the CB Combi to constantly operate at maximum efficiency. For domestic hot water, temperatures range from 90 to 140 degrees F. On the space-heating side, the range is 100 to 180 degrees F.

A built-in external pump control allows for an external secondary or booster pump to be wired directly to the Combi to deliver significantly more Btu on the primary loop without sacrificing efficiency. Condensing technology with low exhaust temperatures allows venting with PVC, CPVC or PP. 714/433-2905; www.noritz.com.
