The Cheater adaptable pipe wrench from Milwaukee Tool features a three-length adaptable design, giving users the versatility on jobs that previously required multiple sizes of traditional wrenches.

“There’s no category of tool that’s more core to the plumber’s arsenal than the pipe wrench, so it might come as a surprise that this product space has largely been untouched when it comes to thoughtful innovation. This lack of innovation in the market has resulted in pipe wrenches that fail to satisfy an array of user needs — from lack of versatility and grip to insufficient leverage and uncomfortable handles,” says Brian Barbour, product manager for Milwaukee Tool.

“Through many discussions with our users and listening to their needs, we knew we had to provide a solution that was dramatically disruptive to this space. We’ve now fully redesigned the traditional pipe wrench to make it more efficient than it’s ever been before.”

The wrench comes with two interchangeable handles that enable it to operate in three lengths: 10 inches for access in tight spaces, 18 inches for general purpose use and 24 inches for additional reach and maximum leverage. 800/729-3878;

Grohe shower water thermostat

The Grotherm 2000 shower water thermostat from Grohe features an outer surface that never exceeds the temperature of the water. A cooling channel and special couplings where the hot water enters the thermostat creates a barrier between the hot water and chrome surface to prevent against scalding. The thermostatic valve senses and controls the water temperature, while a pressure-balance valve senses and controls the ratio of hot water to cold. 800/444-7643;

General Equipment Company tower lights

Tower Light temporary lighting products from General Equipment Company provide an inflatable, temporary lighting solution for large and confined areas. A cylindrical load-bearing nylon tower is inflated with constant air pressure delivered by an integral blower system. The units can be installed and ready for operation in approximately one minute with no special tools or additional components. Operational heights of 7.5, 10 and 14 feet provide 360-degree diffused, glare-free illumination while minimizing shadows. The tower remains inflated even with minor cuts or perforations.

Tower Lights are designed for indoor/outdoor use and can operate from 115 VAC, 60 Hz electrical power sources or self-contained, gasoline engine-powered generator systems for remote site applications. The tower fabric is easy to clean with soap and water. 800/533-0524;

BJM SKG Series shredding pumps

The SKG Series of high-performance shredding pumps from BJM Pumps are available in three sizes with two impeller trims for lower head requirements and the ability to handle industrial liquids with gravities higher than water. Features include RAD-AX dual shredding technology to chew through difficult solids, hardened 440C stainless steel shredding elements, and large-solids-size passage through the impeller and volute coupled to a high-torque, four-pole motor (2, 3 and 5 hp). 877/256-7867;

Ditch Witch truck-mounted hydroexcavator

Air excavators from Ditch Witch, a Charles Machine Works Company, are designed for locating utilities or gas leaks in below-grade work sites and feature the FXT Air system for air and water excavation.

“This new line lessens one of the downsides of potholing with pressurized water: the time it takes to move spoils and backfill,” says Jason Proctor, product manager, vacuum excavation systems for the Ditch Witch organization. “We’ve made these air models so powerful and adaptable that operators can more effectively dig in the toughest soils, whether they choose air or water pressure to excavate.”

All three Ditch Witch FXT Air models (FXT30, FXT50, FXT65) use a PTO-driven air compressor for efficient power transfer and nonstop productivity. The filtration system utilizes a cyclonic separator to remove fine particles before reaching sensitive components in the vacuum system.

While hydroexcavation is widely used by utility workers to penetrate compacted or frozen soils on job sites, in some cases, more states are restricting its use near highways and railroads or under certain environmental conditions. The FXT Air system gives operators the flexibility to meet changing job site demands by enabling instant switching from air- to hydro-excavation, and from high air pressure for excavating to low air pressure for hand tools and moles.

The new system positions many of the air excavation components under the truck deck, giving operators extra room and easy access. Operators can monitor and command all components using an electronic controller that displays system parameters. FXT Air models also accept a variety of tooling attachments. 800/654-6481;
