Problem: The Missouri Department of Natural Resources, in order to approve an operating permit for a multi-unit MBR treatment system discharging into the Lake of the Ozarks, required that high water alarms be monitored remotely by cell service. The lake is protected water and any untreated sewage is a violation and subject to fines. The homeowners association, engineer and contractor were all searching for a good product at a reasonable price.
Solution: Webtrol Pumps and LEC partnered to promote IQ2 remote monitoring devices that can operate without relying on a power supply and can transmit alerts to the cellular devices of the homeowners and the maintenance providers. For this application there are two treatment units that run in parallel with separate alarm systems. One IQ Pulse endpoint contains two sensors, thus was capable of monitoring both units. Additionally, since the existing control panels monitored everything from high water, blowers and pumps through one alarm, any malfunction within the treatment unit would set off an alert so that problems could be corrected before any damage occurs.
Result: The IQ2 has been monitoring the two treatment units for over a year. The 10-year battery is monitored by the same system as the alarms. Cellular service through FirstNet was covered for the first year and subsequent years are modestly priced and paid annually. 800-769-7867; www.webtrol.com
